--புலமையோர், ''s. [pl.]'' Poets, the learned, புலவர்.--Note. Poets are of four classes: 1. கவி, one who com poses any of the four kinds of poetry, called ஆசு, மதுரம், சித்திரம், வித்தாரம். See கவி; 2. கமகன், one who treats abstruse sub jects in a natural and agreeable man ner; 3. வாதி, one who by adducing rea sons, and quoting authors, confutes the doctrines of another and establishes his own; 4. வாக்கி, one who treats on the four classes of subjects, அறம், பொருள், இன்பம், வீடு, and is thus a rhetorician in ethics.
