The nyāya of stick and cake, a method of reasoning in which a self-evident truth is illustrated by saying that a mouse which has eaten a stick is sure to have eaten the cake tied to it;
தண்டத்தைத்தின்ற எலி அதிலேயுள்ள அப்பமுதலியவற்றையுந் தின்றிருப்பது பெறப்படுதல்போல வெளிப்படையான செய்தியை உணர்த்தும் ஓருவகை நியாயம். ஓரு பொருளைச் சொல்லத் தண்டாபூபிகாநியாயத்தினான் மற்றொரு பொருள் தோன்றுதலால். (அணியி.59).
