சன்மராசியிலிருந்து எட்டாமிடத்துள்ள நட்சத்திரங்களோடு சந்திரன் கூடியிருக்கும் நிலை. சற்குணமடைந்துளோ ருத்தமரை முனிவதே சந்திராஷ்டமமாகுமாம். (திருவேங். சத. 39). Conjunction of the moon with the constellations at the eighth house from the caṉma-rāci, considered inauspicious;
