VI. v. t. mortify the body, suppress the passions, அடக்கு; 2. punish, chastise, தண்டி; 3. rebuke, கண்டி; 4. destroy, அழி; v. i. fail, become scarce, குறை; 2. be defective, ஊன மாகு. தன்னை யொறுத்தல், self-restraint. ஒறுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்க, to rebuke one; to be afflicted. ஒறுப்பு, v. n. self-restraint, punishment, reproof; 2. dislike, aversion, disgust; 3. scarcity, dearness, கிராக்கி; 4. lack, குறைவு. மழை யொறுத்த காலம், a drought.

, [oṟu] க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, ''v. a.'' To reduce, suppress, subject, re strain the senses, desires, &c., to mortify the body, curb the appetites, to pinch, stint or deny one's self, to suppress the passions, அடக்க. 2. To afflict, distress, cause pain to one's self or others, அலைக்க. 3. To pun ish, chastise, தண்டிக்க. (கு. 964.) 4. To rebuke, reprove, கடிந்துகொள்ள. 5. To dis like, to be disgusted with, வெறுக்க. ''(p.)'' 6. ''v. n.'' To become scarce and dear, to fail or be scanty--as crops, rain, &c., to be sparing, குறைய. கொலையிற்கொடியாரைவேந்தொறுத்தல். Punish ing the guilty by death--the prerogative of a prince. (குறள்.) அகமொறுக்கும். Corn will be scarce. அவனொருத்தருக்குமொறுக்கிறதில்லை. He sub mits to no one's reproof; he does not brook censure. கையொறாமற்கொடுக்கிறான். He gives liber ally. அன்னத்தையொறு. Abstain from taking food. சற்றும்வாயொறுக்கிறானில்லை.
