எள்ளு, s. rape-seed, sesamum, திலம், Different kinds of it are காட் டெள், காரெள், சிற்றெள், பேரெள், மயிலெள் etc. எள்ளளவு, எள்ளுப்போல், எட்பிரமா ணம், எட்கடை, எட்கிடை, as much as a rape-seed very little. எள்ளுண்டை, a sweetmeat made of sesamum. எள்ளு மூக்கத்தனை கூடப் பிசகில்லை, there is no mistake even to the slightest extent. எண்ணெய், see separately. எள்ளோதனம், எள்ளோரை, cooked rice mixed with sesame powder and ghee.

, [eḷ] ''s.'' [''vul.'' எள்ளு.] One of the nine kinds of grain, sesamum, from the seeds of which an oil is extracted, used for food, bathing, &c., திலம். Sesamum orientale. See தானியம் and எண்ணெய்.- ''Note.'' The ள் of this word becomes ட் and ண் by permutation. எள்ளத்தனையைமலையத்தனையாக்க. To make a mountain of a sesamum seed, to exagge rate. எள்ளளவு--எள்ளுப்போலே. As much as a sesamum seed, a very little. எள்ளளவுநம்பிக்கையுமில்லை. Utterly unworthy of confidence. 2. Destitute of belief, con fidence, &c. எள்ளுக்குளெண்ணெய்போலெங்குநிறைந்தகடவுள். God who pervades the universe, as oil the sesamum seed.
