சாப்படு, VI. v. t. eat, take food, medicine etc., drink, உட்கொள்; 2. misappropriate as in சர்க்கார் பணத் தைச் சாப்பிட்டுவிட்டான். பால், (மருந்து) சாப்பிட, to take milk (medicine). சாப்பிட அழைக்க, சாப்பாட்டுக்குச் சொல்ல, to invite to a meal. சாப்பாடு, food, meal. சாப்பாட்டுக் கடை, a hotel; 2. the serving of food. சாப்பாட்டுக்கு அமரிக்கை பண்ண, to get a meal prepared. சாப்பாட்டு ராமன், a glutton; a blockhead; a good-for nothing fellow. தடிக்கம்புச் சாப்பாடு, flogging with a cudgel.
