--சுவாலாமுகி, ''s.'' A place, where subterraneous fires break forth, venerated by the Hindus.--''Note.'' A celebrated ''Jvalamukhi'' exists in Lahore, to which pilgrimages are made. The soil abounds with carburetted hydro gen, which takes fire on coming in con tact with the external air, especially if a light be applied. Vents are made; and a light being brought near the orifice, a flame is kindled, which is fed by the escaping stream of gas. The tongue of Parvati is said to have fallen at this place, அக்கினிகக்குமிடம். W. p. 357. JVALAMUK'HEE.
