Ste"a*tite, n. Etym: [Gr. stéatite.] (Min.) Defn: A massive variety of talc, of a grayish green or brown color. It forms extensive beds, and is quarried for fireplaces and for coarse utensils. Called also potstone, lard stone, and soapstone.
