Ru"tile, n. Etym: [L. rutilus red, inclining to golden yellow.] (Min.) Defn: A mineral usually of a reddish brown color, and brilliant metallic adamantine luster, occurring in tetragonal crystals. In composition it is titanium dioxide, like octahedrite and brooklite.
