Ler`næ*a"ce*a, n. pl. Etym: [NL. See Lernæa.] (Zoöl.) Defn: A suborder of copepod Crustacea, including a large number of remarkable forms, mostly parasitic on fishes. The young, however, are active and swim freely. See Illustration in Appendix.
