Zin"ni*a, n. Etym: [NL. So called after Professor Zinn, of Göttingen.] (Bot.) Defn: Any plant of the composite genus Zinnia, Mexican herbs with opposite leaves and large gay-colored blossoms. Zinnia elegans is the commonest species in cultivation.
