U`po*ko*ro"ro, n. Etym: [From the native Maori name.] (Zoöl.) Defn: An edible fresh-water New Zealand fish (Prototroctes oxyrhynchus) of the family Haplochitonidæ. In general appearance and habits, it resembles the northern lake whitefishes and trout. Called also grayling.
