Sward, n. Etym: [AS. sweard skin, covering; akin to OFries. swarge, D. zwoord, G. schwarte, Icel. svör skin, sward of the earth.] 1. Skin; covering. [Obs. or Prov. Eng.] Halliwell. 2.
