n. வாயிரை, விலங்குகளை அமைதிப்படுத்த அளிக்கப்படும் உணவுத்துண்டம், வாய்த்திணி, தொல்லைதடுத்துவைப்பதற்குரிய சிறுபொருள், துவைச்சில்லு, ஆணத்தில் தோய்த்த பொங்கப்பத் துண்டு, தாண், காய்கறி-இறைச்சிச் சாறு ஆகியவற்றில் தோய்ந்த அப்பத்துணுக்கு, வாயுறை, மனக்குறை தணிப்பதற்கு அளிக்கப்படுவது, தேற்றுசலுகை, கையுறை, கைக்கூலி, இலஞ்சம், சேறு, குட்டை, தோய்வு, (வினை.) அப்பத்துண்டினைக் காய்கறி இறைச்சி வேவூறலில் தோயவை, துண்டு முதலியவற்றால் உறிஞ்சுதல் மூலம் நீர்மம் ஒத்தியெடு, முட்ட நனைவுறு, முட்ட நனைவி, தோய்வி, ஊறுவி.

Sop, n. Etym: [OE. sop, soppe; akin to AS. s to sup, to sip, to drink, D. sop sop, G. suppe soup, Icel. soppa sop. See Sup, v. t., and cf. Soup.] 1.
