Sheat"fish`, n. Etym: [Cf. dial. G. scheid, schaid, schaiden.] (Zoöl.) Defn: A European siluroid fish (Silurus glanis) allied to the cat- fishes. It is the largest fresh-water fish of Europe, sometimes becoming six feet or more in length. See Siluroid.
