Pis"sas*phalt, n. Etym: [L. pissasphaltus, Gr. pissasphalte.] (Min.) Defn: Earth pitch; a soft, black bitumen of the consistence of tar, and of a strong smell. It is inflammable, and intermediate between petroleum and asphalt. [Written also pisasphaltum, pisasphalt, etc.]
