Pho*ro"nis, n. Etym: [NL., fr. L. Phoronis, a surname of Io, Gr. (Zoöl.) Defn: A remarkable genus of marine worms having tentacles around the mouth. It is usually classed with the gephyreans. Its larva (Actinotrocha) undergoes a peculiar metamorphosis.
