jingo

n. ஆரவார நாட்டுப்பற்றாளர், கிளர்ச்சித் தேரியவாதி, (வர.) 1க்ஷ்ஹ்க்ஷ்-இல் பீக்கன்ஸ்பீல்டுப் பெருமகனார் கொள்கை ஆதரவாளர், (பெ.) அசட்டுத் துணிவான, கீழ்த்தரமாக மக்களைத் தூண்டிவிடுகிற, குறுகிய பகட்டார வாரத் தேசீயஞ் சார்ந்த, மக்களைக் கிளஜீவிடும் பாடல்களால் மட்டான எழுச்சியுடைய சூளுரைக்குஜீப்பு.

Jin"go, n.; pl. Jingoes. Etym: [Said to be a corruption of St. Gingoulph.] 1. A word used as a jocular oath. "By the living jingo." Goldsmith. 2. A statesman who pursues, or who favors, aggressive, domineering policy in foreign affairs. [Cant, Eng.] Note: This sense arose from a doggerel song which was popular during the Turco-Russian war of 1877 and 1878. The first two lines were as follows: -- We don't want to fight, but by Jingo if we do, We 've got the ships, we 've got the men, we 've got the money too.
