idol
n. வழிபாட்டுக்குரிய தெய்வ உருவம், பொய்த்தெய்வம், போலித்தெய்வம் பேரன்புக்குப் பாத்திரமானவர் பெரும்போற்றுதலுக்குப் பாத்திரமான பொருள், மாயநம்பிக்கை, போலிக்கற்பனை, (அள) போலிமருட்சி, தப்பெண்ணம், பொருள்களைத் தவறாகக் காணும் அல்லது கருதும் மனப்பாங்கு, ஆங்கில அறிஞர் பிரான்சிஸ் பேக்கன் வகுத்துக்காட்டிய நால்வகைப் பிழைபடுவாத அடிப்படைகளில் ஒன்று.
