n. பாசுரம், இறைவன் புகழ்ப்பாடல், தேவாரம், (வி.) பாசுரங்களால் இறைவன் புகழ்பாடு, பாடிப் பூசனை செய், பாட்டால் புகழ்நிறுவு, பாட்டில் தெரிவி.

Etym: [OE. hympne, ympne, F. hymne, OF. also ymne, L. hymnus, Gr. weave.] Defn: An ode or song of praise or adoration; especially, a religious ode, a sacred lyric; a song of praise or thankgiving intended to be used in religious service; as, the Homeric hymns; Watts' hymns.
