Hot"coc`kles, n. Etym: [Hot + cockle, cockle being perh. corrupt. fr. knuckle. Cf. F. main chaude (lit., hot hand) hotcockles.] Defn: A childish play, in which one covers his eyes, and guesses who strikes him or his hand placed behind him.
