n. பிடரிக் கவிகை, தலைக்கும் கழுத்துக்குமான முக்காடு, பல்கலைக் கழகங்கள் வகையில் இன்னபட்டம் என்பதைக் குறிப்பதற்காக அங்கியின்மேல் அணியப்படும் விருது, பருந்தின் தலைச்சூட்டு, வடிவத்தில் அல்லது பயன்படுத்துவதில் தலைச்சீராவைப் போன்ற பொருள், உந்து வண்டியின் முகப்பிலுள்ள மடிப்பு முகடு, வண்டி முகடு, மேற்கட்டி, பன்னாங்கு, பல்லக்கின் மேற்கவிகை, புகைப்போக்கி மூடி, நல்ல பாம்பின் படம், (வி.) தலைச்சீராவினால் மூடு, முக்காடிடு, மூடி மறை.கண்ணாம்பூச்சி விளையாட்டு.
Hood, n. Etym: [OE. hood, hod, AS. hod; akin to D. hoed hat, G. hut, OHG. huot, also to E. hat, and prob. to E. heed. sq. root13.] 1. State; condition. (c) A projecting cover above a hearth, forming the upper part of the fireplace, and confining the smoke to the flue. (d) The top of a pump. (e) (Ord.) A covering for a mortar. (f) (Bot.) The hood-shaped upper petal of some flowers, as of monkshood; -- called also helmet. Gray. (g) (Naut.) A covering or porch for a companion hatch. 4.
