Hip"pu*rite, n. Etym: [Gr. hippurite.] (Paleon.) Defn: A fossil bivalve mollusk of the genus Hippurites, of many species, having a conical, cup-shaped under valve, with a flattish upper valve or lid. Hippurites are found only in the Cretaceous rocks.
