Gon`o*the"ca, n.; pl. Gonothec. Etym: [NL., fr. Gr. (Zoöl.) Defn: A capsule developed on certain hydroids (Thecaphora), inclosing the blastostyle upon which the medusoid buds or gonophores are developed; -- called also gonangium, and teleophore. See Hydroidea, and Illust. of Campanularian.
