Cu"tose (k"ts), n. Etym: [L. cutis skin.] (Chem.) Defn: A variety of cellulose, occuring as a fine transparent membrane covering the aerial organs of plants, and forming an essential ingredient of cork; by oxidation it passes to suberic acid.
